The South Florida Sun Sentinel continues its eight-part series previewing top players in the 2023 NFL draft (April 27-29) with linebackers. The Dolphins added David Long Jr., which is a nice acquisition considering his experience and athleticism. The inside linebacker has a low-key role in defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s 3-4 system but they remain essential to stopping the run, and it’s always nice to get the guys who can stay on the field for three downs.Drew Sanders, ArkansasSanders (6 foot 4, 235 pounds), a transfer from Alabama, can fight off blocks in the running game and cover ground in the passing game. Hudbay Minerals strikes all-stock deal to buy Copper Mountain Mining worth US$439M

TORONTO — Hudbay Minerals Inc. says it has struck a deal to buy Copper Mountain Mining Corp. in an all-stock deal it valued at US$439 million.The companies say the combination will create an Americas-focused copper mining company with an operating portfolio of three long-life mines, as well as a pipeline of copper expansion and development projects.Under the agreement, Copper Mountain shareholders will receive 0.381 of a Hudbay share for each Copper Mountain common share held.The companies say the proposal represents a 23 per cent premium based on Hudbay’s and Copper Mountain’s 10-day volume-weighted-average share prices on April 12.The deal, which requires approval by a two-thirds majority vote by Copper Mountain shareholders and a simple majority vote by Hudbay shareholders, is also subject to closing conditions including regulatory and court approvals.Once the transaction is complete, Hudbay shareholders will own about 76 per cent of the combined company, while Copper...

US wholesale inflation pressures eased sharply last month

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. wholesale prices fell last month, a sign that inflationary pressures in the economy are easing more than a year after the Federal Reserve began aggressively raising interest rates.From February to March, the government’s producer price index dropped 0.5% as energy prices plunged after having been unchanged from January to February. Compared with a year ago, wholesale prices were up 2.7% in March, down significantly from a 4.7% year-over-increase increase in February.The Labor Department’s producer price index reflects prices charged by manufacturers, farmers and wholesalers.
